ROFL!

DraftBachman.com

From HuffPo:

With the 2010 Minnesota gubernatorial race approaching, and Representative Michelle Bachmann still mum on whether or not she will run, the Democratic Governors Association has launched DraftBachmann.com, a hoax website ironically supporting her potential candidacy.

Operation Rescue Targets Another Abortion Doctor

From The Kansas City Star:

Operation Rescue, the aggressive anti-abortion group based in Wichita, Kan., made tracks to distance itself from the murder early this month of abortion doctor George Tiller.

But now the group, which hounded Tiller for years, is turning its sights on LeRoy Carhart, the Nebraska-based physician who regularly assisted Tiller.

Operation Rescue has put out the word that it wants to hear from women who sought abortions from Carhart in the last five years. It's doing a "research project" on Carhart, according to its website.

Mark Sanford: Yet ANOTHER GOP Hypocrite!

Mark Sanford speaking about Bill Clinton:
This is "very damaging stuff," Sanford declared at one point, when details of Clinton's conduct became known. "I think it would be much better for the country and for him personally (to resign)... I come from the business side," he said. "If you had a chairman or president in the business world facing these allegations, he'd be gone."

Read the e-mails between Sanford and his lover.

Sanford's wife told him to leave to maintain her dignity.

"The Party of Family Values"????

UPDATE:

"The Party of Family Values" Regularly Proves It Isn't (John Ensign Affair)

The Party of NO, The Party of Hate, The Party of Hypocrisy regularly demonstrates it talks the talk but doesn't walk the walk. E.g., Gingrich telling his wife he wanted a divorce--while she was in her hospital bed, Larry Craig and the bathroom stall, and now John Ensign:

Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) has acknowledged an extramarital affair with a campaign staffer in a statement released by his office

Yes, I suppose it is a "personal matter" ... or would be, did it not involve a member of a party which hates gays, courts the religous zealots, and panders to "the moralists" for political support. When hypocrisy is discovered, it's fair to talk about it.

Health Care - Why Republicans Don't Give A Damn About People - They Represent Business

More from The Party of NO

Republicants can't stop singing that tired old song:
"They warned of rationed medical care, lack of patient control and government bureaucracy."

The fact is that now, operated solely as a "free market" system, health care IS rationed, there IS lack of patient control, and there is an INSURANCE COMPANY bureaucracy.

It's amazing how damned dumb Republicants are.

Related from NPR:
Doctors Say Current System Impedes Medical Care
(Republicants don't care.)

Or read this story at NPR, about two patients--one with no health insurance (no job) and one whose employer-provided health insurance is paying virtually all of her bills.

If you happen to be employed by an employer who provides a good health plan, you're okay.
If you're not, you're fucked.
Unfortunately, Republican politicians have an excellent health care plan provided by their employers...maybe that should change.

Yoo Accountability - Judge Allows Civil Lawsuit to Proceed

John Yoo is a disgrace to the legal profession (or is that redundant?).

A Federal District Court judge (who was appointed by "W"(orst) btw) in San Francisco has decreed that a civil lawsuit brought by Jose Padilla against Yoo may proceed.

In the 42-page ruling, Judge Jeffrey S. White of Federal District Court in San Francisco characterized the conflict as one that embodies the tension “between the requirements of war and the defense of the very freedoms that war seeks to protect.”

American Carmakers Responsible For Their Failure - The Prius Proves It

After the fuel crunch in the 70's, American carmakers addressed the demand for fuel-efficient cars...by building crap. I bought a Chevy Vega that, after about 3 years, had large holes rusted completely through the top of the front fenders. Then, silly me, I bought a Ford Pinto...which also fell apart quickly and became known for deaths because of it's defective fuel system.

The fuel crisis abated...and American carmakers went for maximum profit by pushing behemoths and gas-guzzling large horsepower engines.

Meanwhile, Honda and Toyota kept gaining ground selling (mostly) smaller, more fuel-efficient, and well-built cars. Toyota made a long-term gamble when it introduced the Prius.

Today, the new Prius is selling out...and has a waiting list (!).
Japanese Toyota factory workers are working overtime(!), as are workers at its battery supplier.

Blame for the American auto industry's failure has falsely been laid on the people working on the assembly lines (it takes roughly 32-40 manhours to assemble a car). They've been made scapegoats.

The success of the Prius, and Toyota's willingness to stick with a car for the long term, vividly demonstrates the true reason for American carmakers' failure: The automaker executives' single-minded quest for maximizing profit while ignoring the long term.

Right Wingers Will Exaggerate and Lie About Anything - The Lie of the Pregnancy Blog

Here's a story, from AP, at "Editor and Publisher" about a woman who published " blog that told the tale of a woman who chose to carry a terminally ill child to term drew a following online, prompting supporters to promise prayers and send gifts."

http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003984110

From The L.A. Times:
"Every night for the last two months, thousands of abortion foes from across the nation logged onto a blog run by the woman who said she was unmarried, pregnant and identified herself only as "B" or 'April's mom.'"

..."As more people were drawn to the blog -- which included biblical quotes, antiabortion messages and a soundtrack of inspirational Christian pop songs -- advertisers were queuing up. By the evening of June 7, when the woman blogged that April Rose had survived a home birth only to die hours later, her website had nearly 1 million hits."
